Therapy is a very personal process. In my office, you can expect a nonjudgmental space with a life-affirming, honest therapist. I believe that each person and every family unit have an innate ability to heal. I bring this perspective to every session.


+ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT is a mindfulness-based behavior therapy that assumes that all internal suffering comes by the avoidance of reality and attempts at emotional control. Through focusing on your values and goals while showing compassion to yourself, healing will occur.

+ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT has proven to be very effective for those with difficultly overcoming life problems. CBT examines how thoughts and feelings are related to the behaviors that one engages in. CBT addresses automatic negative thoughts and challenges why you do what you do while also addressing the effectiveness of skills in your life.

+Dialectal Behavior Therapy

Originally for the treatment of a personality disorder, DBT has become widely used to help treat a variety of mental health conditions. DBT helps people to develop skills in mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance.

+Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy

EMDR is a therapy that can specifically help those who are in emotional distress related to a trauma that they have endured. This is a fairly quick acting therapy to help you to reprocess the memories and to ‘organize’ them into places in your brain where they will not have the same amount of ‘charge’ (think about a battery) that they may right now.

+Prolonged Exposure

PE is a type of therapy that has been developed to help lessen the effects of a trauma by "exposure" to your memories and real life situations today. Through PE, you will respectfully approach your memories and work through them, while talking through them (talking activates the higher level thinking part of your brain which is turned off at the time of a trauma).

  • The strategies that you have been using have been helpful for you for a time. (Your body and your brain do not spend energy using techniques that are not useful). However, the way that you have been living is not effective for you anymore. Helping you develop new strategies in life is what therapy is about!

  • People often need help in order to recognize and utilize the ability they already have inside of themselves to heal - this is where a therapist can be helpful. A therapist can help you find the inner voice and pursue valued living in your life.

  • Just because you are having difficultly in your life and in your relationships does not mean that there is something inherently wrong with you.



Spirituality is an important component to many people's healing. Many individuals often come to therapy with a spiritual crises or with spiritual questions. If your beliefs have contributed to distress you have experienced and you would like for your faith to be a part of your therapy, together we can discuss how to integrate your faith practices into your healing process.
